New Jewish Ideas

New Jewish Ideas issues from American Incubators

A wind of Innovation is inspiring new entrepreneurs. They are launching new Jewish ideas addressing cultural, social and educational needs. Philanthropists, also pioneers of this field, are creating social incubators to support these entrepreneurs and help them move from the idea to concrete implementation. In New York in 2000, private funds and institutions created "Bikkourim" and "Joshua Venture". These 2 social incubators have enabled the launch of more than 30 new projects. Here is a selection of a few of them.

Seed of Peace: A Jewish-Arabic Leisure Center

Seeds of Peace established a 5,000 square-foot Center for Coexistence in Jerusalem with activities spanning the region for its 2,000 Arab and Israeli graduates. Workshops, presentations, seminars, sports, music and art activities and festivals are organized at the Center and Seeds of Peace youth are using the Center as a meeting space to maintain friendships that they initiated at camp. Other activities include home visits, workshops, field trips to Jordan, Israel and the West Bank and the publication of The Olive Branch - a magazine written and edited by Seeds of Peace youth. Hundreds of presentations have also been held at Israeli, Palestinian and Jordanian schools, involving both Israeli and Arab youth. Likewise, more than 150 Israeli, Palestinian and Jordanian Seeds have exchanged visits to each other homes.

Heeb ; magazine juif alternatif : Tribune juive et Technikart fusionnés

Quarterly national magazine on alternative Jewish life, politics, art, culture and spirituality, Heeb is the roiling product of so many drunken postmillennial nights on the mean streets of the Lower East Side. It is an ambitious antitrust investigation into the monopoly on God. It is a sweaty prizefight between hip-hop and sushi in this corner and Klezmer and Kugel in the other. It is a plague on modern-day pharaohs replete with miraculous jailbreaks and a nice little riot or two. It is a Carnival cruise to the Garden of Eden with all-you-can-eat cheesecake and Parliament as the house band.

Just Vision: A Jewish-Arabic Web TV

Just Vision uses cutting-edge video and Internet technology to connect American Jews and other interested audiences with Israelis and Palestinians building peace in the Middle East. What happens when Palestinian ex-prisoners, an Israeli war veteran, a former Jewish settler, a Muslim refugee, and journalists at a silenced radio station cross-path in one of the most explosive regions in the world? We connect Israeli and Palestinian civilians working for peace to one another, thereby breaking the isolation of these courageous individuals and laying the groundwork for a network for peace. We conduct strategic outreach to educate North American audiences about these efforts and about the value of peace work emanating from civil society.
