How is Ezra Venture organized ?

Ezra Venture was inspired by the Joshua Venture foundation which pursues similar goals in the United States. In 2001, this organization supported the creation of five highly innovative projects, some of which since became very successful:

  1. Samuel Ball founded the New Jewish Filmmaker Project, a project which provides young people with the necessary training and resources to tell and film their own stories, on subjects such as immigration and assimilation.
  2. Jennifer Bleyer created Heeb, a « trendy » quarterly magazine designed for the 18-35, which covers subjects such as politics, art, culture, and spirituality.

Ezra Venture was created on the initiative of a private foundation, the Tsadik Fund, which has provided support anf funding for the first three years. The Tsadik Fund is a philanthropic organization helping charities and individuals who:
- encourage spiritual values, particularly in the Jewish tradition and its relation to Israel
- dedicate their action to the advancement of human rights, social justice and the communication of knowledge
- promote entrepreneurship and the creativity of individuals

In addition, Ezra Venture benefits from the moral and logistical support of  the Centre Communautaire de Paris. A hub of Judaism in the Paris Region, the Centre Communautaire is an example of innovative project, managed by a professional team, closely involved with community institutions and public bodies.

Ezra Venture core team embraces solid complementary management and technical skills and a broad social/business network within:

  1. the various organizations within the Jewish Community and its existing initiatives; this enables to share experiences, avoid duplicating existing projects, and create links between these institutions and the selected social entrepreneurs
  2. the business sector, in particular the venture capital and the start-up universe
  3. the non-profit sector

This core team closely works with outside experts in the cultural, educational and social spheres, who contribute through advice, contacts and overall support to the selected social entrepreneurs.

Through this fluid organization and structure, Ezra Venture aims at leveraging the business world, the nonprofit sector and the Jewish Community Institutions, whilst keeping a strict independence from each and an original positioning.
